Laura Marks (or Sparky, as named by Father Ted) is Scotland’s Rock Chick! With her unique modern style and fun but chilled personality she’ll give anything ago! At only 22 years old (WOW! Yes, only 22), she has gained an enormous range of experience within the media having had international success with her band El Presidente including a No.1 radio hit in Japan. She has played the main stages at music festivals such as T in the Park, V festival, Glastonbury and Rockness – not to mention supporting Metalica in front of 200,000 music fans in Japan. Who would have thought she started as an opera singer at age nine and acted alongside Toyah Willcox for two years!
With such a strong passion for up and coming bands, ‘Marks’ makes it a duty to support the Scottish music scene and promote new music wherever possible.
She has made numerous international television appearances including MTV’s TRL (UK and Japan), GMTV, TOTP, Taratata (France), E4’s Glastonbury, and BBC’s T in the Park – Laura found her love of presenting while touring and promoting her music career. She always felt that she would prefer to be the interviewer rather than the interviewee!
Sparky could have been a lawyer, an accountant or a vet, but where is the fun in that?
If Muse, Kings Of Leon, The Kinks, Biffy Clyro and Bjork could just merge into one sound... that would do her nicely.
For a girl whose dad looks like Alice Cooper and who has partied with Toni Lommi and Brain May, she is very quiet….NOT!!!!
What else? Eh...her favourite food is ice cream and she can’t touch a raw onion!
Rock n Roll Quote – “I once had a mouth full of Slash’s hair…no I didn’t keep any!!! We banged heads!”
Do you play an instrument?
